Drivers reveal dreaded places to break down

Recent research has highlighted the worst places to break down according to UK drivers, whilst also shedding some light on the number of motorists protecting themselves with some kind of breakdown cover.

The data, collected on behalf of Asda Financial Services and published on Marketwire, showed that just under 74% of those surveyed had experienced a breakdown, with over a third considering the side of the road to be the worst location.

It was found that 23.86% said the motorway was the worst place to break down, whilst just under 10% opted for a dual carriageway.  Other feared locations included the middle of nowhere, a petrol station forecourt, airport car parks and on a ferry.

According to the research, 87.78% of drivers have a breakdown cover policy, and many of those that did not have some kind of roadside assistance cited cost as the reason.

Many drivers look to save money on their roadside assistance by using internet comparison tools to compare breakdown cover.
