Why Green Flag's breakdown cover is a caravan trip essential
When it’s time to introduce your new partner to the joys of caravanning (and they’re a bit sceptical anyway), you don’t want to find yourself stranded just off the M25 waiting to be towed.
Unfortunately that’s what happened to police officer Paul Collard. Paul, 48, his partner Emily, 28, a police support worker, plus dog Alfie, had left their home just outside Eastbourne on Good Friday this year and set off for a weekend break in the rolling Somerset hills.
A keen caravanner for the past decade, Paul had hoped to win Emily round to his passion. But his caravan had other ideas. As the couple approached Staines, other motorists signalled to Paul that he had a problem. When he left the motorway and stopped on a quiet road, he found that one of his caravan tyres was completely shredded.
Had he not just lent his spare to a fellow caravanner, he could have continued his journey safely. But this time a call to Green Flag was in order.
